I Met Lori a.k.a. BeemerGirl!

This vaycay visiting my grandson in Atlanta just keeps getting better and better! Hubby and I were able to sneak away tonight for dinner. It wasn’t just any dinner, we were meeting up with Lori a.k.a. BeemerGirl and her hubby! We met at the 57th Fighter Group Restaurant. A very tasty choice. We were seated at a window table where we were able to watch planes take off and land while dining. The whole place was filled with cool World War II aviation decor.

Meet-up with Lori and her hubby!

What a wonderful evening we had together. It was so fun getting to know Lori and her hubby. We traded stories about life, dogs, riding, and more. We entered the restaurant as cyber-friends and left as real life friends. What a fun connection to make all because of cyber space.

P.S. If you haven’t already I recommend checking out Lori’s blog, For Love of a Motorbike.

  1. How nice! Blogger meetups are such fun. Glad you enjoyed yours.

For twenty years, we had a 57th Fighter Group restaurant here in my town. Sadly, it closed last month. It was entertaining to see WWII artifacts and planes.

I didn’t know you live near Atlanta. One of my closest blogger-friends (Jen) lives there.

    • Shybiker,
I’m in Atlanta visiting my grandson. Not looking forward to going back to Minnesota’s weather. From what I hear it is 45 and could be snowing when we land. Yikes! Lori is the local Georgian.

I love meeting other bloggers too. Glad you had a great time together. It’s like meeting old friends that you haven’t seen for a while

  3. Yay for friends and dinners!! Thank you so much for coming out to play. I can’t believe how much we talked and talked and forgot about the planes and decor. We had a great time getting to swap stories and get some real face time in. 😉 We’ll have to do it again soon. Hehe

  4. Oh yeah, even though we didn’t want to cut it short, thanks for kicking us home. Up at 4:30, working. Left work at 7. 😦 Safe journey home to you two.

  5. Love having lunch here on a sunny day. The 57th fighter group restaurant is at the end of a runway and is a stopping point for one of the open cockpit planes, so there’s good aviation watching. The decor is old WWII memorabilia and other time-specific accoutrements, with everything from a sandbagged circular entrance that makes it feel like you’re going into/through a well fortified barricade to a “latrine” off to your left upon entry. The service is white napkin, but the food and casual feel is definitely more accessible. Food is basic but tasty and the wait staff is excellent. In short, it’s a fun destination restaurant for lunch that’s enjoyable for aviation or history lovers that also sounds like it’s fun after dark. Note that there’s plenty of parking and that the entrance is not on the main airport, but rather off of Clairmont Road down a wavy, can-lit road decorated with old military vehicles (medic, jeep, etc.).
